DOLCE this Friday (May 2): The Future of Learning Management Systems at UC Davis

This coming Friday (May 2), at 12pm in 1310 Surge III, Academic Technology Services is hosting a special DOLCE (Discussing Online Learning and Collaborative Education) meeting devoted to the transition to a new and/or improved Learning Management System, or LMS (i.e., SmartSite). The May DOLCE would be improved dramatically with your participation.

At this meeting we will discuss the work of the LMS Working Group, a cluster of faculty, students and staff who have been charged with evaluating possible improvements on Sakai (the engine that powers SmartSite), or possible replacements. We will also discuss your priorities for a new or improved LMS, and review some use cases of new and existing LMS tools. Join us if you are interested in hearing more about how an LMS can help faculty teach with video, grade student submissions on a tablet computer, or use third-party teaching and learning online applications of your choosing.

Please also add The Learning Management System Showcase to your calendar. It will take place on Friday, May 23rd from 9-3 at MU II, and it will give all of us an opportunity to hear from the vendors themselves on the teaching and learning topics that concern us the most.

See you Friday!
