DOLCE on November 3rd at Noon in 1310 Surge III / The Grove -- We discuss presenting techniques and strategies

Dear Colleagues,

I hope you can join us on November 3rd, for our monthly meeting of DOLCE: Discussing Online Learning and Collaborative Education. We meet at noon or so in 1310 Surge III / The Grove.

At this month’s DOLCE, we will hear from Distinguished Professor James Carey on the subject of presentations. Not only has Professor Carey conducted extensive research on presentation approaches, tools, and strategies, but this quarter he is also teaching a first-year seminar on effective presentations. He will share with us some presentation tactics and anecdotes, followed by a discussion.

We will also hear from two ATS instructional technology experts, Margaret Merrill and Fernando Socorro, on a new initiative that they have helped to launch. As the website says, “Share You is a multimedia dialogue about how members of our UC Davis community promote and live diversity and inclusion.” You are invited to participate, as some of our faculty colleagues have started to do.

Finally, our LMS Manager, Todd Van Zandt, will speak briefly on some recent updates and future plans for UC Davis Canvas.

Feel free to bring a lunch, and your questions for the instructional designers and instructional technologists on hand. Please also share this invitation with your faculty colleagues.

Best,

Andy Jones
