Dear Faculty Colleagues,
Please join us for our last faculty forum of Winter quarter this Friday, March 15th, at noon in Surge III/The Grove.
For March, we have chosen this focus: “Week-One Technology Strategies: How best to communicate with your students before you ‘meet’ them, and what technology use policies to share on your syllabus.” We hope this faculty forum creates a space for faculty to reflect on Winter quarter and prepare for the important first week of Spring quarter. The first day of class offers us an opportunity to communicate our course goals and to set our expectations for students participation in class discussions, whether those discussions take place in person or are mediated, such as by tools offered by UC Davis Canvas.
Joining us for this talk will be Mark Verbitsky from the Political Science Department. Mark’s dedication to pedagogy and innovative teaching strategies will make his contributions to this discussion particularly relevant. In addition, Seth Frey, Department of Communication, will share his experience facilitating a productive start to the quarter. In addition, Mark Wilson and Margaret Merrill, instructional designers for Academic Technology Services, will join us to answer questions about both teaching tools and pedagogical best practices.
We look forward to seeing you this Friday, March 15th at noon in Surge III/The Grove for the last faculty forum of Winter quarter. Stay tuned for announcements of DOLCE and faculty forum topics for Spring quarter.
