Spring Events Announcement -- Remote DOLCEs and Faculty Forums for Spring 2020

Dear Faculty Colleagues, 

DOLCE and Faculty Forums will take place virtually during Spring quarter 2020. The Spring Flyer highlights upcoming DOLCE and Faculty Forums. DOLCEs will be available asynchronously to faculty through pre-recorded videos in which our talented colleagues will share insight on a wide range of remote teaching strategies. DOLCE topics will include: 

    • Heather Hether:  Facilitate Peer Learning with PeerWise and Canvas Peer Review 
    • Mark Verbitsky: Modelling Critical Reading Skills
    • Miriam Martin: TBA
    • Joe Horton: Thinking, Planning, Living, Assuring: Student Writing Collaboration with the Navajo Nation
    • Robert Blake: Cloud Based Vocabulary Authoring Systems 
    • Joey Van Buskirk: Keep Teaching with AggieVideo and Kaltura Capture

DOLCE videos will be published on The Wheel each month during the Spring quarter. Be sure to “Subscribe by Email” to The Wheel to receive notifications when new articles are posted. Please also follow The Wheel on Twitter.

In addition to information about DOLCEs and Faculty Forums, Wheel articles will be posted weekly on remote teaching strategies, student reflections on online courses, instructional technologies, captions, and more!

Faculty forums will be hosted through synchronous Zoom sessions at noon on the third Friday of every month in the quarter. Faculty forum topics will include: 

 

  • April 17th: Faculty Reflections on Teaching in the COVID-19 Era 
  • May 15th: Lessons Learned about Remote Teaching at UC Davis

We are currently recruiting speakers to be featured at the April and May Faculty Forums. If you are interested in sharing your experience, especially if you have not previously been a featured speaker at one of our events, please contact me at aojones@ucdavis.edu.
