Spring 2018 DOLCE-FF Forum

Spring Offerings -- DOLCE and Faculty Panels (with an invitation to our April 6th DOLCE)

Dear Faculty Colleagues,

Welcome back to campus, and to teaching with technology! We hope you have had a restful spring break. We at Academic Technology Services are excited about the schedule of Discussing Online Learning and Collaborative Education (DOLCE) meetings and Faculty Forums scheduled for first and third Fridays at noon during the spring quarter.

At this quarter’s DOLCE meetings, faculty will share expertise on a variety of teaching and technology topics, from providing feedback on student writing to leveraging interactions to improving student learning in hybrid and online courses.

This quarter our Faculty Forums will bring together expert faculty on mobile learning and online education. In addition, this May a bonus faculty forum will preview a talk on the Digital Learning Environment for UC Davis, a preview of a talk that Alex Rockey and I will be giving at the Computers and Writing Conference in late May.

Meanwhile, please mark your calendars for the April 6th DOLCE featuring Spanish Professor Robert Blake on “Leveraging Interactions in an Online Language Course,” and Dave Doty, assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science, and Steve Pigg, Executive Director of Information Technology for the College of Engineering, on “Gradescope: A tool for fast, fair, and (sort of) fun grading of paper-based exams.” We meet Friday, April 6th at noon in 1310 Surge III / The Grove, and would love it if you could join us.

Best, Andy Jones
