What is Educational Technology?

Educational technology uses digital mediums to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom and in online environments. UC Davis’s Information & Educational Technology department offers many resources to help you integrate technology in your teaching.

You can use Adobe Connect Professional or Videoconferencing to collaborate with students or colleagues at a distance, and you can use SmartSite, Podcasting, and Webcasting to deliver your course content online.

There are also resources to help you develop your own multimedia content, like Adobe Presenter and the Hart Media Lab. You can also get help from the professionals at Academic Technology Services – they offer audio/video recording, illustrating and graphic design, and animation services, to name a few.

Further, there are multiple ways for you to get support, such as classroom media training or the faculty mentoring faculty program. Visit IET’s Educational Technology page for more details.

Our goal is to keep you informed about what UC Davis has to offer, and to update you on new information in the Educational Technology field. We’ll highlight innovative ways to use the tools at your disposal, and discuss the purposes and functions of emerging technologies.
