Dear Faculty Colleagues,

I write to invite you to our May 5th DOLCE (Discussing Online Learning and Collaborative Education) meeting in 1310 Surge III / The Grove, at which time we will hear from Janine Wilson of the Department of Economics. She will tell us about her work transforming a face-to-face Microeconomics class into a hybrid course, and now into an online course offered to U.C. Davis students. Join us for Dr. Wilson’s remarks and the resulting discussion. two experts on instructional technology tools and practices.

Janine Wilson, an innovative faculty member in the Department of Economics, specializes in international trade, economic history and econometrics. Wilson and her colleague Derek Stimel were awarded an Innovative Learning Technology Initiative (ILTI) grant to develop ECN1, Principles of Microeconomics, into a fully online course. Wilson had previously been awarded a Provost's Hybrid Course Award to transform her face-to-face class into a hybrid course. For her hybrid and the new online course, Wilson has been recording micro-lectures with the learning glass in the eLearning Studio. The team for the ILTI grant includes Margaret Merrill, from the ATS Instructional Design team, Jeremy Poulos from the ATS Media Services team, and Cecilia Gomez, a Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE) Education Specialist.

Please join us at this event on Friday, May 5th for this discussion of instructional technologies and pedagogical innovation. And please share this with colleagues whom you think would benefit from reviewing the topics we cover.

Best,

Andy Jones
