April 5th DOLCE this Friday!
Dear Faculty Colleagues,
Please join us this coming Friday for the first DOLCE of Spring quarter.
Walter Leal, distinguished professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, will present his talk on “How September 11th Changed the Way I Deliver Instruction.” Having taught at UC Davis since the year 2000, this will be Professor Leal’s first presentation at an ATS faculty forum, so we are very excited to learn from his insights and experiences.
Andy Jones will then share the draft of a resource Academic Technology Services has created to guide faculty’s adaptation of planned course delivery methods in the case of possible future emergency campus closures. This resource will touch on video lectures, audio lectures or podcasting; group discussions; communication with students; and peer collaboration to ensure students can still master necessary content despite an interruption in traditional instruction.
If we have the time, afterwards we will discuss our own strategies for employing such tools throughout the academic year. Instructional designers Mark Wilson and Margaret Merrill will be on hand to answer your questions and recommend the most relevant resources.
Please join us for the first DOLCE of Spring quarter this Friday at noon in 1310 Surge III/The Grove.
Best, Andy Jones
