Faculty Forum on December 2nd at Noon: Grading with Canvas

Dear Faculty Colleagues,

Typically, on the first Friday of the month we hold a DOLCE meeting that covers a number of teaching and instructional technology topics. This coming Friday, however, we thought it best to focus on a topic of interest to all UC Davis faculty: (final) grading with Canvas.

Faculty and teaching assistants who have questions about Canvas, especially its Grades tool, are invited to attend an open forum from noon to 1 on this coming Friday, December 2nd, in 1310 Surge III/The Grove. At this faculty forum we will hear from Canvas experts, share some of the more common grading with Canvas questions that we have received in recent weeks, and share ideas on how we are using UC Davis Canvas to inform, inspire, and assess our students.

As you know, UC Davis Canvas is replacing SmartSite, which will remain available for teaching only through spring 2017. Most of our faculty colleagues and almost all of our undergraduates have been using UC Davis Canvas this fall. Because students benefit from using a single learning management system in all their classes, we hope that all UC Davis faculty will plan their move to Canvas soon.

If you have questions but can’t attend the forum, you can also contact the Move to Canvas project team at movetocanvas@ucdavis.edu. To read more about Canvas, and to find resources to help you use it, see movetocanvas.ucdavis.edu.

Happy holidays, and I hope to see you at 1310 Surge III this coming Friday at noon to discuss grading with Canvas.

Best regards,

Andy Jones
