Invitation to May 7, 2021 DOLCE
Dear Faculty Colleagues.
Please join us for our May DOLCE (Discussing Online Learning and Collaborative Education) meeting taking place this Friday, May 7th at noon via Zoom. Three faculty presenters will share their thoughts on course design, learning frameworks, and lessons learned about teaching remotely.
Dr. Joe Anistranski, Assistant Professor of Teaching from the Department of Human Development & Family Studies, will show us how he uses video to introduce students to learning frameworks and to the steps of creating, assessing, reflecting and discussing in his Human Development classes.
Dr. Bettina Ng’weno, Associate Professor in the Department of African American and African Studies, will reflect on her remote teaching experiences, sharing with us wisdom gleaned from teaching in the coronavirus era. Dr. Ng’weno recently won awards for her teaching of undergraduates and her mentoring of graduate students.
Finally, Friday’s DOLCE will feature remarks by a guest speaker from Boise State University. UC Davis alumna Dr. Leslie Madsen, IDEA Shop Director and Associate Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Boise University, will join us to share how she integrates Universal Design for Learning (UDL) into a program for Boise State faculty titled FLIP, or Flexible Learning and Instruction Plan.

Please also reserve May 21 for our next Faculty Forum We will meet at noon that day to discuss the joys and affordances provided by “capturing” our recorded classroom lectures with members of the Lecture Capture team, as well as faculty who love the service.
