Preparing Fall Courses? ATS can help!

As the fall quarter approaches, two of the most common questions we receive at Academic Technology Services (ATS) are “What tools are available” and “How can I get started?”

ATS specializes in helping instructors discover and adopt teaching technologies, especially those that have undergone vetting to be supported by our staff. See examples by visiting this list of campus-supported technologies on our Canvas Help site, where you will also find links to documentation and tips for using them in your teaching. In addition to being supported by our teams at ATS, these tools have undergone rigorous security and privacy reviews, so you won’t be exposing your students’ data to the risks of unverified vendors.

To help more faculty discover tools and connect with campus resources, ATS will host two workshop series over the next academic year. These workshops will offer targeted support at the beginning of each term and highlight supported teaching technologies throughout the coming months.

Ed Tech Week

Following on last year’s pilot program, we will again offer ATS Ed Tech Week, a series of workshops hosted by our team to help instructors with start-of-term challenges such as setting up Canvas course materials and creating instructional videos. This fall’s workshops start tomorrow, Tuesday, September 13th, and run through Thursday, September 15th. Review this fall’s agenda, register for workshops, and browse curated resources at our ATS Ed Tech Week page here on The Wheel.

Ed Tech Spotlight Series

New for 2022, ATS will host a series of workshops to highlight key teaching technologies available to UC Davis instructional teams, thus providing opportunities to connect with the vendors directly, as well as our own campus support staff. Join us to discover new tools, make new professional connections, and share your feedback directly with technology providers. To learn more, visit our Ed Tech Spotlight Series page on the Canvas Help site.

We hope that you will also request a consultation with an instructional designer by emailing instructionaldesign@ucdavis.edu or request a consultation from an instructional technologist by emailing trainers@ucdavis.edu.

At Academic Technology Services, we look forward to supporting you!

Best,

Dr. Andy Jones
