January 17th Faculty Forum on Open Educational Resources (OER)
Dear Faculty Colleagues,
On Friday, January 17th at noon (via Zoom), Academic Technology Services will be hosting a Faculty Forum on Open Educational Resources (OER). All are invited to participate in the conversation, one that will feature some OER stories from UC Davis STEM librarian Sheena Campbell and Spanish professor Claudia Sánchez-Gutiérrez.
As we will discover during our discussion, Open Educational Resources offer our students a number of benefits, including cost reductions, easy and timely access to assigned materials, and helpful supplemental resources. Faculty benefit from OER customization and personalization for the variety of classes we teach, collaboration opportunities with disparate faculty on wiki-style textbooks, and improved student learning outcomes that come with students’ educational resources abundance mindsets.
If you work with any Open Educational Resources and would be willing to participate as a conversant in this January 17th event, please drop me an email (aojones@ucdavis.edu) so I can be sure to introduce you to the assembled faculty.
This January 17th Zoom event will be recorded with the recording to be shared the subsequent week here on The Wheel. That said, we hope you can join us synchronously so we can benefit from hearing your questions or perspectives.
Happy New Year!
