Upcoming Faculty Forum on Teaching with AI in VetMed and other STEM Disciplines
Dear Faculty Colleagues,
Welcome back to a new year and a new quarter!
On Friday, January 19th at noon, Academic Technology Services will be hosting a special Zoom Faculty Forum on Teaching with AI in STEM, with a focus on the perspectives of veterinary medical education.
Rather than asking all our attendees to speak, we will hear first from invited participants who have been exploring AI in VetMed, but with applications to many of the classes we teach in other disciplines.
Expected attendees: Below you will find the names of participants in a leadership academy through the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges. As part of the academy, these scholars from various American and Canadian universities have been tasked to work on a project to assess integration of artificial intelligence in veterinary medical education.
Thandeka (Tandi) Ngwenyama, DVM, DACVECC - Assistant Clinical Professor of Emergency and Critical Care and Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for the Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine, Oregon State University
Chris Luby, VetMB, MS, PhD, DACVIM - Associate Professor and Head of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan
Christianne (Tiana) Magee, DVM, PhD, Dip ACT (Equine) - Associate Professor, Department of Biomedical Sciences and Program Lead, Virtual Veterinary Educational Tools for the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Colorado State University

Please register now so you can join us on that Friday at noon to listen in on and perhaps participate in the discussion. If you are unable to join us live on Zoom, visit The Wheel in the subsequent week to watch the recording.
We thank our UC Davis colleague Denise M. Imai-Leonard for gathering together all these AI-curious faculty. We look forward to seeing you on January 19th.
