About the Interviewees

Alex Nord has a Ph.D. in Genetics and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. Dr. Nord's research focus is on the genetics of brain development and neurodevelopmental disorders. Dr. Nord is a regular instructor of BIS101 at UC Davis, where he tries to make introductory genetics engaging and accessible to all, with a focus on incorporating active learning in the physical and remote classroom. Dr. Nord also teaches a freshman CURE focused on microbial genomics, an upper level undergraduate electives on brain disorders, and graduate applied statistics for neuroscience.

Jason Lambert earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of California, Davis in 2017, and he has been an adjunct faculty member and Lecturer at California State University Sacramento since 2019. Dr. Lambert has taught general biology, cell and molecular biology, and molecular genetics for undergraduate and graduate students, and has transitioned all of these courses to remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
