Faculty Talk - Open Pedagogy & Publishing

Open Pedagogy & Publishing: Student-Authored OER

Sheena Campbell

Description

Open educational resources (OER) is learning content licensed for revision and reuse, enabling instructors to design course content that is timely, topical, and relevant to our students while meeting their specific learning objectives. Shifting students from consumers to creators of OER can extend the relevance of their coursework beyond the classroom by making the knowledge students construct publicly available online using Creative Commons licensing. This talk will examine a variety of CC-licensed materials authored by students in their college coursework and explore how the Library’s AggieOpen program can support instructors seeking to collaborate with students in developing openly licensed resources.
