Engaging Undergraduate Students with Google Sheets: A Simple Classroom Exercise

Brendan Johnston and Erik Fausak

Description

UWP 104F is a course designed to teach students to discover, synthesize and share information learned in the health sciences. Student attention and retention of search strategies will be explored in this presentation. To promote active learning, we incorporated a simple Google Spreadsheet during the demonstrative session where students had to find a relevant article in PubMed related to their topic and paste the title into the sheet. Then students were expected to use their article and paste the title from that sheet into another literature database. At the end of the session, students were queried using Kahoot!.
