About the Interviewee

Dr. Bwalya Lungu is an Associate Professor of Teaching and microbiologist in the department of Food Science and Technology. Dr. Lungu is engaged in undergraduate training and development and teaches some of the largest classes on campus including the very popular GE course “Food, Folklore and Health.” Dr. Lungu’s research work focuses on three areas: 1) how teaching pedagogies can be used to improve instruction and student learning/engagement, 2) the adoption and implementation of active learning components in large classes to improve student learning and engagement, and 3) food safety/regulation education and how pedagogy can be used to improve food safety education.
