Join us for the first DOLCE of the Fall Quarter!

Dear Faculty Colleagues,

On behalf of Academic Technology Services (ATS), I would like to welcome back to campus and to teaching at UC Davis this fall. We at ATS are hosting a mobile learning event next Friday, October 1st at noon via Zoom, and we hope you will join us.

Every first and third Friday during the school year, Academic Technology Services and I host a faculty forum on teaching and technology. Faculty and staff presenters either give short presentations (as typically happens at DOLCE -- Discussing Online Learning and Collaborative Education), or participate in roundtable discussions on topics related to our work in the classroom. We invite you to reserve these Friday lunchtimes for these informative and edifying fortnightly events, for we would love to learn from your questions and contributions. Announcements of these events will be shared via email and on The Wheel, the instructional technology blog at UC Davis. For the fall quarter, we will be meeting via Zoom, so feel free to join us while you are enjoying your lunch.

Please join us on Zoom for our first DOLCE of Fall Quarter 2021, on Friday, October 1, from 12-1pm. We will enjoy an interactive presentation from a team that has been doing research since 2017 on mobile learning, which might be defined as anything done on a mobile device (including smartphones, tablets, and laptops), that has to do with instruction, whether it’s taking place inside or outside the classroom. The presenters will include instructional designers who interviewed faculty at four UC campuses about how they used mobile learning in their teaching. Everyone attending will come away with a better understanding of how mobile learning can help instructors achieve their teaching goals.
