October 16th Noon Faculty Forum on How We Discuss Generative AI with Our Students
Dear Faculty Colleagues,
Please join us on Friday, October 16th at noon for a faculty forum titled “How We Discuss Generative AI with Our Students.”
At the recent Summer Institute on Teaching and Technology, with its focus on Authentic Teaching in a Tool-Rich World, participating faculty reported that they are still struggling to figure out how best to discuss generative AI use with their students.
Some faculty see their individual classes as walled gardens where students focus on the foundational skills and knowledge that were familiar to all of us as new scholars in our fields, while others recognize the increasing importance of deft generative AI use in their students’ post-graduate fields and workplaces.
At our October 16th faculty forum, faculty from across the disciplines will join us to tell stories, discuss their own course policies, and share the perspectives of their colleagues, students, and leaders in their fields.
This event will be recorded with the video to be subsequently posted on The Wheel, the instructional technology blog of UC Davis. Please register now and add this event to your calendar. We look forward to seeing you on October 16th!
