October 17th Faculty Forum on GenAI as a Teaching and Tutoring Tool

Dear Faculty Colleagues,

On Friday, October 17th at noon (via Zoom), Academic Technology Services will be hosting a Faculty Forum on GenAI as a Teaching and Tutoring Tool. We hope you will join us.

The rapid growth and pervasive impact of generative artificial intelligence have created opportunities and challenges for UC Davis faculty and students. Anticipating fielding faculty insights about AI challenges and practical solutions, Academic Technology Services invites you to a one-hour conversation that will highlight strategies for using AI to support student learning while addressing academic integrity and encouraging critical thinking.

As with other Faculty Forums, this session will be interactive and peer-centric. We expect participants to ask questions, share experiences, and consider how GenAI might enhance or complicate our students’ readiness to meet our expectations and accomplish the learning objectives of our classes. Whether you are skeptical and resistant, curious about getting started, or already piloting AI-based approaches, we hope you will join faculty colleagues who will be eager to compare insights and resources, no matter if you want to contribute to, or just listen in on, the conversation.

Please register now and add this October 17th at noon event to your calendar. This event will be recorded with the video to be subsequently posted on The Wheel, the instructional technology blog of UC Davis.

P.S. Because our post-SITT faculty debrief was such a big success, we are planning to extend our AI conversation at Sudwerk (2001 2nd Street in Davis) starting at 4 p.m. on October 17th. Join us for this experimental bonus forum!
