Plan to join us at the March 6th noon Zoom DOLCE on Teaching with Video and with Interactive Spreadsheets

Dear Faculty Colleagues,

Please register now to join us Friday March 6th at noon (on Zoom) for our March DOLCE presentations and discussion. If you are unable to join us live on Zoom, please visit The Wheel in the subsequent week to watch the recording.

We will enjoy presentations by two DOLCE speakers.

Dr. Jane Beal from our Writing Center will speak on “Using Short Video Clips and Info Graphics to teach Reflection on Learning Effectively in the Virtual Classroom.” She will talk about the ways she uses short videos and infographics to encourage reflection and student understanding in her writing classes.

Dr. Robin Decker from Evolution and Ecology speak on “From equations on paper to interactive models: Teaching quantitative modeling with Google Sheets.” Professor Decker will discuss her experience using Google Sheets to give students practice with mathematical modeling, moving mathematical models from static equations on paper to interactive tools that students can manipulate and visualize. She will describe how she structured and implemented the spreadsheet activities in an upper-division ecology course, as well as what she has observed about student learning and engagement.

I hope you can join us for these short talks and the conversations that follow. See you on March 6th!
