Please register now for the Summer Institute on Teaching and Technology
September 10th and 11th (on Zoom)
Dear Faculty Colleagues,
An August tradition is upon us – the announcement of the live schedule of the Summer Institute on Teaching and Technology!
I invite you to check out the website of this year’s Summer Institute on Teaching and Technology, including the pre-recorded presentations and interviews, and the schedule of the live talks, to take place Thursday and Friday, September 10 and 11, via Zoom. Please register to join us!
As we explore our SITT theme, Authentic Teaching in a Tool-Rich World, this year’s institute will feature UC Davis faculty who may lean on some AI tools, but who emphasize the kinds of thinking, inquiry, and interaction that cannot be outsourced.
We will meet virtually the mornings of September 10 and 11 for interactive live presentations; register in Zoom to join us. Each live talk will offer about 30 minutes of presentation, followed by 15 minutes of Q&A from the audience. We’re excited for the lively discussion from members of the UC Davis community starting at 8:45 a.m. both that Thursday and Friday.
Our lead-off speaker Thursday morning will be Debbie Fetter as she considers “Assessment After ChatGPT: Rethinking Course Design in the AI Era.” An Associate Professor of Teaching, Fetter teaches Nutrition 10 and Nutrition 10V, two of the largest-enrollment classes at UC Davis. Other faculty presenters will speak on student engagement, accessible teaching, interactive visualizations, class projects, oral exams, and their use of open educational resources.
As you can see on the “Welcome to SITT” page, in addition to the two days of live talks, SITT 2026 will also feature on-demand presentations and interviews from UC Davis faculty and staff. A sample of that content is available to be reviewed now on the “Welcome to SITT” page, and more will be available in the coming weeks. This year, attendees can also speak with several on-demand presenters during panel sessions on September 10 (and submit questions for panelists in advance).
RSVP today to join us on Zoom on September 10 and 11. Please ask a UC Davis colleague to join you, for we hope the event will spark actual and virtual hallway discussions that will improve our teaching throughout the school year. If you have any questions or concerns, drop the SITT team a message at [email protected].
See you September 10 and 11 for SITT, our biggest event of the year!
