Tools and Strategies for Supporting Our Students – Video from a recent Faculty Forum
Dear Faculty Colleagues,
Thanks to everyone who attended our first Faculty Forum of the 2022-2023 school year. Below please find a brief five-minute recap of this insightful conversation as well as the recording of the full event for your viewing pleasure.
There were some thoughtful questions and insightful suggestions shared in the Zoom chat during the event - we appreciate the supportive UC Davis community!
Dr. Patricia Turner, one of our colleagues from the Learning, Teaching and Assessment unit in Undergraduate Education, shared in the chat an article from The Chronicle of Higher Education entitled, “Why Students Are Skipping Class So Often, and How to Bring Them Back” that aligns closely with many of the concerns and solutions shared by our faculty. The author, Carol E. Holstead, surveyed her students on why they do or do not attend class; the results are thought-provoking. (Note that you may have to use the library VPN to access the article.)
I look forward to seeing you on Friday, November 4th at noon for our next event, a DOLCE that will feature Design professor James Housefield, among others. Register to join us!
