Watch a faculty discussion about Digital Accessibility and Preparations for New ADA Title II Rules at UC Davis
Dear Faculty Colleagues,
Thanks to everyone who attended our Faculty Forum on Friday, November 21st on digital accessibility. I’m especially grateful to Brad Starkey-Owens, our campus Digital Accessibility Program Manager from the Office of Compliance and Policy. Brad deftly answered questions from the more than 60 attendees, supported in Zoom chat in and during the discussion by accessibility experts in the room.
Starkey-Owens shared a new Digital Accessibility webpage that reminds us all how we can prepare for the new ADA Title II rules that go into effect on April 26, 2026. As is the case at other universities, all our websites and Canvas course pages are expected to be fully accessible by that time.
If you need support or guidance with the process of making your Canvas courses and their teaching materials more accessible, please book a consultation with an ATS instructional design consultant.
Meanwhile, please enjoy this short preview video before you review the full recording of our Faculty Forum.
Plan to join us every first and third Friday of the month at noon (via Zoom) for forums like this one. On December 5, we will not be holding a DOLCE so we can all attend CEE’s Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Conference. Perhaps we will see you there!
