Cam Hostinar, winner of multiple teaching awards over the last few years, shares lessons from her field of psychology and from her own teaching experience about keeping students engaged and motivated, including in large enrollment classes. She provides strategies for empowering students to take care of themselves and to take responsibility for their own learning.

About the Interviewee

Cam Hostinar, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Psychology and has loved teaching and mentoring UC Davis students for the past eight years. Dr. Hostinar teaches subject matter from health psychology and developmental psychology and directs the Social Environment & Stress Research Lab in the Center for Mind and Brain. She received the Distinguished Teaching Award from the Psychology Department in 2020, the College of Letters and Science in 2022, and the Academic Senate in 2023.
