May 16th Faculty Forum on The Future of Instructional Technology at UC Davis and Preparing to participate in SITT 2025 (September 11 and 12). Join us!

Dear Faculty Colleagues,

On Friday, May 16th at noon (via Zoom), Academic Technology Services will be hosting a Faculty Forum on two topics:

  1. The future of instructional technology and ATS support for teaching and learning
  2. Faculty plans to present at the 2025 Summer Institute on Teaching and Technology

IET leaders have asked us to invite faculty feedback on IET’s strategic plan to ”Foster Innovation in Teaching and Learning” for the rest of the current decade (you will need to login with your UC Davis credentials to view and respond). We value such feedback, for at ATS we seek always to support UC Davis faculty in ways that are relevant, targeted, forward-looking, student-centric, and welcome. We hope you will review the strategic plan and then click the “Share your feedback” button at the top of the page to contribute your thoughts. Also, join us on May 16th!

Some of the concepts discussed in the first half of our Faculty Forum will possibly be exemplified in presentation proposals for the 30th annual Summer Institute on Teaching and Technology. Due by Tuesday, May 20th, the SITT proposals will reflect a variety of teaching experiments, innovations, and accomplishments, typically by faculty who are teaching with new or newly-discovered tools, with visual and auditory media of various sorts, and with enhanced interaction, collaboration, and engagement made possible by UC Davis Canvas and other collaboration tools.

We expect some past SITT presenters to join us to tell their stories, and the ATS instructional design staff will be on hand to offer advice and encouragement. Please plan now to join us on May 16th, to attend SITT on September 11 and 12, and to propose to speak about your teaching at our 2025 Summer Institute on Teaching and Technology. Our theme this year is “30 Years of SITT: Reaching Every Learner.”

This May 16th Zoom event will be recorded with the recording to be shared the subsequent week on The Wheel. That said, we hope you can join us synchronously.

Best,

Dr. Andy Jones
